ROLE PURPOSE: To carry out maintenance, repair, modifications and alterations to customer or company owned, leased or operated aircraft. YOUR TASKS:<ul><li>Maintaining highest possible technical dispatch reliability whilst assessing multiple factors surrounding aircraft serviceability.</li><li>Fly onboard the company aircraft and provide Technical Support at outstations. Where the Aircraft has departed and a defect occurs during the flight, the Flying Spanner Engineer will observe and record as much detail as possible.</li><li>Ensure that aircraft maintenance is performed to the highest standards and at all times in compliance with applicable and approved data.</li><li>The Flying Spanner Engineer is the point of contact for each flight and will ensure, upon arrival, that the receiving engineer is briefed on any technical issues during the flight from both the Captain & Flying Spanner Engineer. All defects will be recorded by the Captain on the eTL, and events, incidents, and pertinent information should be recorded via the company reporting system and communicated to the duty Line Manager and/or MOC Manager.</li><li>The Flying Spanner Engineer will carry out a detailed walk-around inspection of the aircraft down route.</li><li>In the event of a technical defect down route, the engineer will contact BAH MOC and inform them of the defect. Where possible, the Flying Spanner Engineer will make all attempts to return the aircraft back to base utilizing the Approved Company MEL document.</li><li>In the event of an AOG down route the Flying Spanner Engineer will serve as the point of contact for the BAH MOC and make contact with local service providers on the ground through local DHL personnel for Ground Support Equipment and Hangar Space if warranted. In the event that the crew leave the airport during an AOG, the engineer will remain onsite at the aircraft to assess and plan rectification of the defect.</li><li>The Flying Spanner Engineer, in the event of a Maintenance event down route will ensure that all local Airport Procedures are complied with, such as Airport CRS procedures, Engine Running Curfews & Towing of Aircraft.</li><li>Assist in “On-the-job” training of mechanics and trainees in the performance of their duties.</li><li>Responsible for the upkeep and update of Company issued IT such as IPADs & onboard carried mobile phones. </li><li>Responsible for the written and verbal communication of information from his shift to the succeeding shift to ensure a satisfactory level of continuity and safety with regard to work in progress (or pending) with respect to aircraft, equipment, personnel and safety. </li><li>Be responsible for requisitioning of parts from stores, assuring serviceability of parts, completion of appropriate tags, return of parts to stores and assuring that required forms and documents are properly completed.</li><li>Maintain and Manage the ETL as end users including the procedure to print in the event of ETL failure. </li><li>Ensure that all maintenance related documentation is properly actioned and completed.</li><li>Keep up to date on all applicable regulations, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer’s service letters and other pertinent publications.</li><li>Responsible for the completion of mandatory trainings on a quarterly basis such as Continuation Training, SFAR 88 Fuel Tank safety & Human Factors. </li><li>Shall ensure that safety precautions and safe practices are adhered to and practiced by those personnel under his direction. Reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Production Manager. </li><li>The reporting of safety risks during flights at outstations through the Trip Reporting & company reporting systems. </li><li>In the event of a SAFA Inspection down route, the Flying Spanner engineer is responsible for informing the MOC & the Quality department immediately. SAFA, Operational delays, and Safety events should be recorded on a company reporting system.</li><li>Ensure that company owned and/or operated maintenance and ground support equipment is operated and maintained in safe and operable condition. All GSE defects to be documented and reported to the GSE mechanic.</li><li>Responsible to keep up to date with roster change notifications from the AIMs system even on days off.</li><li>Ensure that all line maintenance areas are kept in a neat and orderly manner at all times.</li><li>Will be required to act on behalf of Line Supervisor or Line Manager as required.</li><li>Inputting of all relevant aircraft Tech Log and Work Order information including component changes into the computer maintenance program</li><li>Must be able to analyse and troubleshoot aircraft systems and engines utilising knowledge learnt from individual aircraft type courses, maintenance manuals and references, and experience gained from “hands on” practical OJT. </li><li>Fueling figures are published on NMIV and the Certifying Engineers are responsible for reviewing NMIV and take initial figures to reduce fueling errors. </li><li>Must be able to make timely and appropriate decisions based on problem solving ability and experience. Structural aspects of the hotel as well as the maintenance of grounds and external facilities all fall within the span of responsibility.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Summary of responsibilities<\/h4>\nResponsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide advice to senior management on all aspects of engineering support, environmental controls, and the operational efficiency of the property.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the effective financial management of the engineering department by setting maintenance budgets, capital works programs and engineering plans and ensuring that performance against these are regularly monitored and reviewed. Responsible for the general cost control aspects of maintenance, the preparation of departmental cost budgets and their implementation and submission to management.<\/li>\n<li>Control of capital project planning, in liaison with management, to ensure capital funding is effectively allocated and budgeted in accordance with company directives and philosophy.<\/li>\n<li>Plan, implement and administer an energy management program by establishing energy reduction objectives, the maintenance of records and regular reporting of performance against these objectives.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the colleagues' awareness of energy management within the property by conducting regular education and training programs on energy conservation and matters related to efficient operation of equipment in a cost-effective fashion.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the hotel\u2019s profitability by ensuring the effective management of the buildings\u2019 environmental controls and energy conservation systems. Evaluate, control and record energy usage and implement and upgrade energy conservation systems.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to guest satisfaction standards by ensuring that technical support services quickly address, and where possible, anticipate, individual needs. Ensure the safety and comfort of guests, and that any requests for service are handled in a courteous and efficient fashion.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure adherence to all statutory regulations and fire codes by regularly reviewing policies and safety procedures. Carry out regular work sampling studies within the department and evaluate the performance and productivity of personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the condition of the physical assets of the hotel by carrying out any upgrading and project work in liaison with architects, interior designers and management.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the effective operation of all the mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program. Closely monitor the condition of the physical property and equipment by conducting continual inspections of the building. Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are in operation and regularly upgraded.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to a high standard of quality control within the hotel.<\/li>\n<li>Closely supervise outside contractors to ensure the cost effectiveness and the technical efficiency of all services performed. Familiarity with EWA Regulations for Electrical Installations, BS, IEC and lEE regulations covering conduit installations such as conduit fills, supports, bends, pull boxes. 2. Types and sizes of conduit and associated fittings. 3. Ability to install conduit up to 3-inch diameter using hand dies or power machines for screwing and bending. i. Possess knowledge and skill in domestic and industrial wiring that includes: 1. Familiarity with EWA Regulations for Electrical Installations, BS, IEC and lEE regulations applicable to wiring. Installation of wiring in hazardous and non-hazardous areas. 2. Jointing of single and multicore wiring by solder or crimping jointing kits. 3. Installation of grounding systems including grounding resistance measurements. 4. Glanding and termination of armored cables. 5. Testing of cabling and wiring prior to energizing. j. Possess the knowledge and skill in the maintenance of motors, starters and generators: 1. Operating of single and three phase motors and generators and Connection. 2. Dismantling, checking, overhaul and assembly of motor starters. 3. Connection of line starters, Drives and push buttons. 4. Replacing carbon brushes on motors and generators. 5. Testing winding on single or three phase motors and generators for insulation and balance. 6. Possess knowledge and skill in the application, installation and maintenance of explosion proof equipment used in hazardous locations. k. Possess knowledge to troubleshoot faults like Over currents, Short Circuits, Earth faults. l. Possess knowledge and skill in the use of measurement and test equipment namely: 1. Digital and Analogue Multimeters for voltage, current, Power, Energy and resistance. 2. Megger for testing insulation up to 500V. 3. Earth loop tester and Clip on ammeter. m. Possess knowledge and skill in basic electronics that includes: 1. Checking of Diodes and Rectifiers. 2. Functional check on UPS and Chargers. n. Possess knowledge and skill in the commissioning and maintenance of transformers like: 1. Installation and connection of single and three phase transformers, variacs, rheostats, autotransformers and regulators. 2. Maintenance of transformer breathers and Bucholtz relays. 3. Performing oil breakdown tests.
