Description

A JCB operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating backhoe loaders and similar heavy equipment to perform excavation, trenching, material handling, and grading work on construction sites. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to collaborate with site teams to meet project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Operate JCB/backhoe loader for excavation, trenching, digging, and grading activities
• Load and unload materials such as soil, gravel, and debris
• Use hydraulic controls to perform precise digging and lifting operations
• Conduct daily pre-start inspections and safety checks of equipment
• Perform routine maintenance, including checking fuel, oil, and hydraulic systems
• Identify and report mechanical issues for timely repair
• Follow all site safety rules and hazard prevention procedures
• Ensure proper positioning and leveling of machinery during operations
• Assist in site preparation and clearing activities
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other workers to meet project deadlines

Requirements

• Strong operational skills in handling JCB/backhoe loaders
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and excavation techniques
• Understanding of construction site safety protocols and hazard identification
• Ability to read and follow site plans or instructions
• Good hand-eye coordination and machine control precision
• Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Valid heavy equipment operator license/certification
• Proven experience as a JCB or backhoe loader operator
• Knowledge of construction site safety regulations
• Physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor environments
