<h2 class="h5">Job description</h2> <div class="t-break" data-jb-field="description"> <span>Senior Estimator (Civil) Location: Bahrain Division &amp; Department: Precontract &amp; Technical Services Role Summary The Senior Estimator (Civil) is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for civil, infrastructure, marine, and building projects.<br> The role involves analyzing tender documents, performing first-principles estimating, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, supervising quantity take-offs, assessing project risks, and ensuring timely submission of comprehensive and competitive bids.<br> Key Responsibilities Review tender documents to understand project scope, technical requirements, commercial obligations, and associated risks.<br> Prepare and submit technical and commercial queries to consultants/clients for tender clarification.<br> Supervise and verify quantity take-offs to ensure accuracy and completeness.<br> Prepare detailed cost estimates and rate analyses using first-principles estimating methods.<br> Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for inclusion in tender pricing.<br> Apply strong knowledge of manpower, equipment, and productivity norms in civil construction.<br> Identify value engineering opportunities to improve competitiveness and profitability.<br> Evaluate alternative construction methodologies and assess cost implications.<br> Develop cost-optimization strategies to enhance tender success rate.<br> Conduct risk assessments and incorporate appropriate contingencies in estimates.<br> Coordinate with internal teams including planning, technical, operations, and estimation departments.<br> Qualifications &amp; Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.<br> 8–12 years of experience in civil, infrastructure, building, industrial, or marine estimating roles.<br> Proven experience in GCC or Middle East construction projects preferred.<br> Strong expertise in first-principles estimating and cost analysis.<br> Experience in reviewing and verifying quantity take-offs.<br> Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, productivity rates, and resource planning.<br> Ability to prepare detailed BOQs, rate build-ups, and cost breakdowns.<br> Strong analytical, commercial, and numerical skills.<br> Excellent understanding of risk analysis and contingency planning.<br> Strong negotiation and supplier/subcontractor evaluation skills.<br> Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.<br> Ability to work under pressure and meet strict tender deadlines.<br> Strong organizational and leadership capabilities within estimation teams.<br></span> </div>

<section><p class="heading jdMain">Job Description</p><p class="heading">Roles &amp; Responsibilities</p><div class="paragraph"><p>JOB PURPOSE The key principles of the role are the preparation and execution of Civil engineering designs and in accordance with BAC procedures to meet and exceed client expectations whilst working within a multi-disciplined team and maintaining customer relationships. The role also requires the supervision of Civil construction works and the ability to manage small/medium projects where the focus is primarily Civil/structural or building oriented and perform other job related duties as assigned. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project Engineering Ensure the overall success and execution of Civil designs and any further assigned technical project issues, cost, schedule, design to cost, product integrity and availability. Deliver Civil analyses, design and detailing of Civil components of a building or other structure and coordinate with other designers, including architects, geotechnical, Electrical and MEP engineers , to investigate all conditions affecting Civil design and to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction. Budget and Plans Review and comment on third party Civil proposals including designs and shop drawings. Processes &amp; Procedures Liaise closely with various airport departments and others, to ensure that all relevant information is available to enable project delivery activities to be undertaken efficiently. Support processes to improve efficiencies of the team and capture and share learning experiences in order to benefit future developments across the Group. Programming Establish, plan and manage programmes on design works, define related objectives and follow up of design work and ensure that new buildings are erected in a Civilly sound sequence through effective supervision on site during execution. Project Management Act as project manager/technical lead/client representative and key communication point on small or Civil only projects for all stakeholders (internal and external) in order to ensure timely sharing of information and decision making and to assist with the efficient development and delivery of the project.</p></div></section><section><p class="heading">Desired Candidate Profile</p><p class="paragraph"></p><p>JOB REQUIREMENTS BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering, CEng, MIEE, or equivalent A minimum of 4 years experience in civil engineering.
