Roles & Responsibilities
Specifically, the duties of this post will include:
- Take responsibility for directing, coordinating, teaching and assessing across assigned modules/programmes (theoretical and practice modules)
- Mentor students and monitor student assessment and progress
- Engage with academic staff of the School of Nursing & Midwifery to enhance education and research capacity within the School
- Employ a collaborative ethos in all aspects of academic practice
- Undertake collaborative research internally and with external stakeholders/partner hospitals that complements and develops the School's academic status and reputation, and contributes to nursing practice and education
- Competently discharge administrative responsibilities and participate in university governance structures as directed by the Head of the School of Nursing & Midwifery
- Assume responsibility for the planning and delivery of education in other academic areas as assigned by the Head of the School of Nursing & Midwifery
- Participate in Community Engagement In accordance with the RCSI Bahrain Strategy
- Comply with statutory legislation and department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own, staff and student's welfare and safety
- Represent the best interest of RCSI at all times by enhancing the School's reputation in both nursing practice, teaching and research
- Undertake assignments external to RCSI/Bahrain as may be required from time to time.
- Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time.
Desired Candidate Profile
Person Specification: Essential
- Is a registered Adult Nurse and educated to Master's Level.
- Has previous experience in teaching, assessing and managing students in an academic environment.
- Is developing a track record in nursing/health services research as evidenced by publications in the areabr
- Expertise and experience in adult nursing, research, evidence-based practice in nursing and healthcare teaching.
- Has excellent computer, library searching, presentation and verbal and written communication skills.
- Has personal drive, energy and enthusiasm to deliver and inspire the achievement of excellent results.
- Has a strong commitment to quality improvement.
- Has a high degree of self-motivation.
- Requires minimum direction, high personal energy, and a positive approach to dealing with challenges and ambiguity.
- Has flexibility in work arrangements, including undertaking overseas assignments as required.
Person Specification: Desirable
- Experience in being a year, module or subject lead or director.
- Has a recognised specialist nursing qualification, which compliments the portfolio of programmes delivered in the School.
- Educated to Doctoral level.
- Has experience in supervision of MSc and Doctoral level students.
- Has contributed to the development of specialist nursing practice in terms of education, practice development and research.
- Mentoring and supervising colleagues in Lecturer and Clinical Educator positions.
