KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
General
• Operate industrial washing, drying, pressing and finishing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Sort linen, towels, uniforms and guest garments by fabric type, colour and care label instructions prior to washing.
• Set and monitor machine cycles, temperatures and chemical dosing to ensure correct care and hygiene.
• Inspect items for stains, damage or wear; apply appropriate pre-treatment or remediation and escalate irreparable items.
• Fold, press and package laundered items to presentation standards and deliver to designated departments on schedule.
• Maintain accurate records of laundry volumes, chemical usage, machine run-times and maintenance logs.
• Report equipment faults, maintenance needs and supply shortages promptly to the supervisor; assist with minor preventative maintenance.
• Follow correct handling and storage procedures for chemicals; adhere to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidance and PPE requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe laundry area; comply with hygiene, safety and environmental policies (including correct disposal of wastewater/chemicals where applicable).
• Assist with linen stock counts, inventory management, and prepare discard/replacement reports for damaged or worn items.
• Work within assigned shifts, support cross?team tasks during peak periods and participate in training as required.
BACKGROUND, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Secondary school certificate or equivalent; vocational training in laundry/housekeeping is an advantage.
• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a laundry or housekeeping role; hospitality experience preferred.
• Basic literacy in English to read labels, instructions and safety data sheets.
• Valid local work permit/visa and any required health/medical clearances.
Skills
• Hands-on experience operating commercial/industrial laundry equipment.
• Knowledge of fabric types, care labels, washing temperatures and appropriate treatments.
• Familiarity with laundry chemicals, dosing systems and safe handling procedures.
• Good attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy loads safely.
• Time management skills to meet output targets in a fast-paced environment.
• Teamwork and reliability; ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
• Basic record-keeping and simple numeracy skills.
