- Carry out continuous checks of all product movement utilising Emerson Tank Master Gauging and RS View Systems from the control room to ensure all product movement is monitored and controlled effectively.
- Take product samples from either tank sample bleeder or from the gauging hatch on the tank roof to meet quality control requirements.
- Assist Senior Operator in opening and closing valves up to 42 inches in diameter on tanks, pipelines, and manifolds to ensure effective transfer of product to and from Tankage Farm to Wharf or venting of lines.
- perform installing, swinging, and removing blinds in lines and manifolds and flushes shipping pumps as directed by the Senior Operator.
- Operate from the control room the Radar Tank Gauging System (SAAB Gauges), monitors and records, every two hours, all product movements within Sitra Tanks and Refinery to Wharf Operations and Marketing Terminal and Bafco to ensure tanks product levels are maintained within established guidelines.
- Gauge tanks with reel gauge, obtain temperature and water thief readings for all company official custody transfer gauges to account for product stored and product moved into and out of the tanks.
- Routinely check all tanks, pipe trenches and gas fired heater pipelines, oil water separators at the beginning of shift and when duties allow during shift by touring the area and report findings to the Senior Operator in order to ensure effective and safe operations.
- Gauge tank oil levels, obtain product temperature readings and ascertain water content for every opening and closing gauge required to ascertain product quantity and avoid any discrepancies. Enter details in notebook and ensure data is transferred to pumping record and check gauge sheet and transfer record book. Calculate the custody transfer stop gauges and ensure that only prescribed allotments of product are blended or transferred and over or under filling is averted.
- Remotely start and stop the speed of diesel engine driven Shipping Pumps and adjust the speed on site when instructed by the Head Operator/Controlman in a scheduled and sequential method applicable to each type of driven pump and carry out prescribed checks during the process.
- Scrutinise pumping record showing all receipts of oil from the Refinery and vessel imports, transfers to the Marketing Terminal, internal transfers, sea-line flushes and loading to the tankers at Wharf Operations ensuring accountability and auditability of all product transactions.
- Remotely start and stop the speed of the Alco Pump in service and adjust the speed on site when instructed by Head Operator/Controlman in a scheduled and sequential method embracing Pump and Engine preparation. Receive confirmation from Senior Operator before starting up. Take detailed instrument readings frequently and record them in the Alco engine Log sheet. This high-volume pump, 27,000 bbls/hour, is used to reduce vessel turnaround time.
- Carry out maintenance work which includes but not minimum to adding packs, adjust valve glands boxes, clamps fitting and valve lubrication in order to maintain equipment integrity.
