VAM Systems is currently looking for SAS Engineer - Banking for our Bahrain operations with the following skillsets & terms and conditions:


Qualifications :


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Engineer (B.E.)/ MCA
  • Certification in SQL/SAS

Experience:  5-8 years


Must Have


Strong SQL scripting experience Ideally in SQL Server.


Strong Data Warehousing knowledge and experience.


Good understanding of Finance in a Bank.

Experience required:


  • Strong understanding of Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD) and data change management, including hands-on experience with SCD Type 1 (data overwrite), Type 2 (historical record creation), and Type 3 (tracking previous attribute values through additional columns).
  • Proficient in designing and optimizing SQL Server indexes to enhance query performance by enabling faster data retrieval through efficient lookup structures.
  • Experienced in implementing data partitioning to divide large datasets into smaller, manageable segments, resulting in improved query performance, simplified maintenance, and efficient data archiving.
  • Skilled in ensuring data integrity during ETL processes, particularly for financial transactions, by implementing checksums and row counts, applying transactional controls (commit/rollback), and validating data against source system totals.
  • Strong understanding of Financial Reporting (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss), Risk Reporting, and core banking domain concepts.
  • Knowledgeable in Balance Sheet structure and components, including Assets (e.g., loans, investments, cash & reserves), Liabilities (e.g., customer deposits, inter-bank placements), and Equity (e.g., share capital, reserves).
  • Well-versed in interpreting Income Statements/Profit & Loss (P&L) reports, including key components such as Interest Income, Interest Expense, and Operating Expense.
