Assistant Technical Manager - General Lines

Key Duties 

 To review applications, documents and KYC for accuracy and completeness and evaluate degree of risk involved in order to determine acceptance of applications and assist the technical team in proposals according to established policies and procedures.


 To assist the technical team by handling routine correspondence and collation of necessary information from various departments for Facultative Reinsurance transactions.


Principal Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

•        Review applications for completeness as per established policies and procedures.

•        Identify and classify the required insurance as private or commercial and register the details as requested by the client and according to company policies and procedures.

•        Compare insurance proposal terms received from Insurance companies and determine if the applicant is an acceptable risk.

•        Evaluate future loss potential.

•        Ensure that the insured amount is not more than the market value for the respective insurance cover.

•        Evaluate the provided information, seek additional information if necessary, according to the company’s policies and procedures.

•        Print the policy, invoice and premium schedule and ensure prompt delivery to the client.

•        Receive change requests from client for additions/ amendments/ deletions from schedule list covered by a policy or increase of insured amounts, scrutinise the same for acceptability, and advise Insurance companies accordingly.

•        Diarise and follow up on renewals sufficiently earlier to the expiry dates.

•        Reply to customers enquiries and maintain a harmonious yet professional relationship with clients.

•        Ensure that files are in order and compliant with regulatory requirements.

•        Plan and organise technical work to ensure high quality service in accordance with the terms of the policy and company's procedures.

•        Ensure that required reports are produced according to schedule and distributed in a timely manner for management/ clients.

•        Receive and register details of reinsurance policies and reinsurance company details on the system.

•        Notify the manager proactively when the threshold limits for Facultative Reinsurance is about to be reached.

•        Assist the manager in the analysis on Facultative Reinsurance proposals.

•        Communicates with reinsurance companies. 

•        Maintain complete and up-to-date information on reinsurance facultative arrangements, their types, classes and risks covered.

•        Provides periodic and ad hoc reports on Reinsurance policies.
