Project: Technical Assistance to ARSO in Road Safety:

The general objective of this assignment is to help improve road safety in Africa through the production of better data and capacitation on state-of-the-art decision making. This is a long-standing commitment of the AU towards its Member States. The EU is a long-term partner of the AU on this topic.

Position: Key Expert 1: Team Leader - Project Manager

As Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following assignments:

  • Effectively managing all activities carried out within the contract;
  • Developing the strategic and monitoring framework, planning, and implementing relevant activities that will contribute to the realisation of the expected results
  • Provision of guidance and strategic advice to the AU Road Policy Officer responsible for AU ARSO and/or the AU ARSO Chair;
  • Institutional representation of AU ARSO at international meetings when the AU official and/or the AU ARSO Chair cannot attend


Assignment duration: 880 person-days in total (220 x 4 per year).


Qualifications and skills:

  • Master's degree in sciences, economics, business, public works administration, international relations or a relevant, directly related discipline; In its absence, equivalent relevant professional experience of minimum of 7years,
  • Experience in working with global and regional organizations and donor/financial institutions for resource mobilization;
  • Experience in programme planning and budgeting;


Specific professional experience:

  • The expert must have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in project management experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in team coordination and executing programs at regional or continental levels


Language skills:

  • At least level C1 in English
  • at least level B2 in French
  • Knowledge of other languages spoken in Africa such as Arabic, Swahili, Zulu, etc. would be considered an asset;
