As an Associate based in the Bahrain Banking department you will work alongside the Associate and support the Senior Counsel in all banking and finance matters including, without limitation, project finance, trade finance, credit (syndicated and bilateral) and security creation, regulatory work (including licensing), funds and Islamic finance in Bahrain and may be called upon to support the banking teams in other jurisdictions.
Our clients include local and international financial institutions, listed and private corporations, governmental authorities and private equity firms to whom we provide a full-service practice with specific industry sector focus.
Requirements & Personal Attributes Qualified lawyer – must be admitted to practice in your home country/law society/Bar admitted (preferably English law qualified). Post qualification experience – 3 years ideal but will consider other appropriate candidates. Experience - at least 2 years’ experience of practicing within a banking and/or finance environment and have a strong transactional track record. Ideally, you will have experience of leading on tractions independently and the capacity to work with autonomy as well as part of a team. Experience in LMA based syndicated and bilateral lending transactions, secured and unsecured facilities, experience in providing legal and regulatory advice particular to financial institutions, project finance and trade finance. Language(s) - English (Arabic a plus but not essential). Proven ability to take on responsibility and manage files. Flexibility, positivity and an ability to work effectively in a close-knit team and office.
Duties & Responsibilities Dealing with a range of banking and finance matters of varying sizes and complexity including conventional credit work, trade finance, project finance, regulatory and Islamic finance. Drafting amongst, other things, facility agreements, security documents, legal opinions and memorandums of advice. Initiating, building and maintain effective client relationships and participating in wider business development activities. Corresponding with regulators. Willingness to work across a variety of banking and finance matters in Bahrain.
