Job Title: Sous Chef, Bahrain (pre-opening)


Salary: BHD 1,200 p/m (incl/ all in)

We are a Michelin listed restaurant in Dubai dedicated to offering an exceptional Greek dining experience. Our concept combines culinary innovation with high standards of service, focusing on quality ingredients and refined presentation. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support our Head Chef in managing kitchen operations at our new opening in Bahrain and maintaining the highest Greek/Mediterranean culinary standards.


Position Overview:

The Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring the consistency and quality of all dishes served. This role involves assisting with menu development, managing kitchen staff, and maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate is experienced, highly organised, and has a passion for culinary excellence, with a strong background in Greek and/or Mediterranean high-end dining.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation & Quality Assurance:

Prepare and oversee food production to ensure dishes meet our quality standards in taste, presentation, and consistency.

  • Support in Menu Development:

Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu planning and development, contributing ideas and assisting with tastings and plating design.

  • Staff Supervision & Training:

Support the Head Chef in training and supervising kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasises skill development and teamwork.

  • Kitchen Operations Management:

Assist in overseeing all kitchen activities, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery of dishes, particularly during peak hours.

  • Inventory & Cost Control:

Manage kitchen inventory, monitor stock levels, and assist in controlling food costs and reducing waste in alignment with budget goals.

  • Health & Safety Compliance:

Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Assume Head Chef Duties as Needed:

Step into the role of Head Chef in their absence, managing kitchen operations and maintaining standards of quality and service.


Qualifications:

  • Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie role, preferably in up market restaurants or luxury dining outlets.

  • Culinary Expertise:

Strong background (3 Years) in Greek and/or Mediterranean cuisines, with knowledge of modern cooking techniques, flavour combinations, and plating.

  • Leadership & Organisational Skills:

Proven experience in leading a kitchen team, with the ability to maintain organisation and motivate team members in a high-pressure environment.

  • Budget & Cost Management:

Familiarity with inventory management, cost control, and reducing food wastage. Candidate must be fully computer & software literate.

  • Certifications:

Culinary degree or diploma from an accredited institution preferred. Food safety and hygiene certification required.

  • Personal Traits:

Passionate about culinary arts, proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the highest standards. Able to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
