Job Objective
Set and drive the strategy and development of the technology delivery department including planning and implementation of projects. Enable effective service and quality for customers and providing the direction required for successfully meeting the business needs and organizational objectives within requisite timelines, budget and as per desired technology standard
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic
• Develop & drive the technology delivery department strategy in alignment with Batelco’s technology strategy and oversee strategy execution
• Work closely with the CTO, Products, enterprise, consumer and Global to prepare strategic initiatives and ensure alignment to the Organization Strategy
• Monitor and report performance against strategic initiatives and set KPIs
Financial
• Work closely with the CTO, products, enterprise, consumer and Global to prepare Capex and Opex budget for technology projects while ensuring operational efficiency and sustainability
• Monitor and report adherence to budget, highlight deviations and advise alternatives in time
• Strive continually for cost optimization by deriving long term implications of the business strategy and organizational requirements
• Prepare, Monitor and control Annual CAPEX planning and execution
Operational
• Derive implications from technology projects for the organization in alignment with long term and short-term business needs and priorities
• Drive and lead all technology projects in order to ensure timely and cost-effective implementation of the projects, ensuring projects are controlled financially within the authorised budget and meeting the agreed targets and time frame.
• Ensure effective vendor management for the delivery of efficient solutions to develop the technology
• Ensure that overall technology platforms are pursued, to meet the operational and changing needs of the business processes and services
• Submit and obtain approval for Business Cases to continuously develop the technology based on accurate specifications to ensure that the forecasted traffic and business demands are taken into account and met
• Monitor adherence to procedures and controls at each Department process, such that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost effective service to internal customers
• Identify opportunities and redesign policies, processes, systems / structural programs and procedures for continuous improvement, covering all individual functional activities
• Monitor information provided to address employee queries related to functional area
• Evaluate the review mechanism for technology optimisation projects and assess the project goals & objectives. Ensure the timely appointment of the right people in the project team
• Identify technology delivery risks, develop mitigation plans and ensure timely implementation of the plans to ensure seamless operations
• Ensure that information required by internal and external auditors is provided within stipulated timelines. Monitor coordination and resolution of all audit related issues. And Prepare and execute plan to close audit findings
People
• Identify training needs and nominate team members for training programs
• Ensure timely completion of PMR process for self and the department
• Continuously share the knowledge and understanding of the telecom industry and business trends
• Develop subordinates via proper career and succession plans with the aim of further excelling Batelco’s human capital.
• Ensure active participation in employee engagement survey
Skills
Required Qualifications and Experience
Profile 1
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications/Electrical / Electronics / IT / Computer Science or related domains from an internationally recognized University is a must
- 8 to16 years of Telecommunication experience, with a substantial proportion gained in a telecommunications business environment
- >6 years of Telecommunication experience as first line manager of a team
- Membership of a relevant and internationally recognized, professional body preferred
- Certification in Project management preferred
Profile 2
- Master’s degree in Telecommunications/Electrical / Electronics / IT / Computer Science or related domains from an internationally recognized University is a must
- 7 to 14 years of Telecommunication experience, with a substantial proportion gained in a telecommunications business environment
- >5 years of Telecommunication experience as first line manager of a team
- Membership of a relevant and internationally recognized, professional body preferred
- Certification in Project management preferred
