MAIN OBJECTIVES
Responsible for the strategic development, execution and performance of the long and short term sales plan of the business unit in line with the corporate objective, and deliver revenue target whilst maximizing sales margin, and To achieve Gulf Air business goals by ensuring the provision of excellent customer service and sales interactions for Gulf Air internal and external.
Implement a robust and active sales and marketing plan that will stimulate both on line and off line markets.
MAIN DUTIES
- Motivate and lead the sales team to support and deliver Gulf Air’s vision and business objectives through creating and maintaining a work environment conducive to high morale and effective performance at the unit.
- Promote sales, including groups, and to keep a close watch on the market situation and feed back the necessary information about the local market and also ensure a good relationship between the customers and the company.
- Supervisor and monitor the overall performance of the Group department, attend the weekly meetings between group desk controller and finance to ensure proper reporting to Country Manager is done on daily/weekly basis
- Assume full responsibility for the sales activities inside and outside the sales office, according to the area and scope assigned by the Country Manager.
- Penetrate the local market and secure new sources of revenue through research and direct contact with private sectors and sales outlets of travel industries in order to increase sales opportunities.
- Maintain regular contact with the travel industry (i.e. Travel Agents, , Tour Operators, and Interline partners.), Ministries, Government Houses, Embassies, Schools, Clubs, Commercial Houses, Private Companies, Ethnic Institutions and the traveling public, entertaining them and availing to them GF timetables, giveaways, window and other display items, and competitive fares as may be necessary and within approved limits.
- Maintain and maximize new and existing business opportunities and revenue contribution with Travel Agents, group leaders and Corporate accounts within portfolio.
- Responsible and accountable for negotiating and managing Sales Agreements.
- Responsible and accountable for negotiating and managing corporate deals
- Develop strong, long-term working relations with Travel agents, government agencies and specific corporate accounts.
- Prepares and develops account development plans to achieve short, medium and long term business plans.
- Develop tactical Sales and Marketing activity in support of sales opportunities in both Travel Agents and Corporate market place.
- Ensure GF’s constant timely provision of efficient services to the above institutions and to the general traveling public through adverts, Internet/e-mail or CRS and in liaison with concerned departments reconciles between their demands and complaints on the one hand and GF’s polices and regulations resolving all issues to the ultimate benefit of GF.
- Supervise and monitor the activities of Gulf Air’s sales force and monitors the discharging of their duties as efficiently as possible.
- Monitor and report Travel agent and Corporate performances against their agreements.
- Responsible for reviewing agents’ performance on a monthly / quarterly basis with all revenue performance stats, and wise vision stats.
- Distribute to Sales Executives assignments and areas of responsibilities, allocating targets to all of them and other sales outlets.
- Assist in recommending level of bank guarantees, extension of credit facilities and waivers of un-collectable debts based on sound judgments and within the perimeters of the company’s policy.
- Investigate, meet, process and report on all types of claims, complaints and compliments received by the station.
- Identify shortcomings of the quality of travel agents as well as his own sales force including Sales Executive, and arranges for the provision of necessary training in liaison with the concerned dept.
- Assist in preparing the Yearly Market Plans for the station.
- Supplement sales calls made by Sales Executives and prepare appropriate reports of his sales calls.
- Ensure that all reports required by HQ are completed and dispatched regularly.
- Participate in regular Sales Meetings, Staff coordination Meetings to provide the best of services to clients and correct operational shortcomings.
- Recommend corporate deals with major accounts and agents.
- Responsible for the performance of the sales tools and the cost of sales.
- Responsible for the YLD improvement at station level.
- Manage and develop a team throughout the Cluster and take a proactive role in helping meet and exceed the key performance measures across all the Company’s goals. To coach, support and develop the team. To mange team performance in a way that recognises, rewards and motivates and ensure that this cascades through the cluster to be committed to a system of succession planning to ensure business continuity.
- Develop, recommend, implement and monitor the Area or Country Business Plan including business priorities, revenue and cost of sales target and Key performance Indicators for all commercial activity. Ensure clear and robust activity plans are in place and that the results are closely monitored and analyzed to maximize contribution.
- Champion the GF brand values in the area or country of responsibility through all sales and marketing activities, especially promotions and those with media involvement, to ensure strong visibility / communication is maintained within the assigned territory with an aim to increase the regional profile of GF.
- Monitor progress against revenue and targets, analyze and comment on the monthly traffic / revenue reports and recommend and implement any changes to existing plans and operating budgets.
- Maintain and improve personal standards of customer services, business sense and positive performance to ensure all available opportunities are capitalized upon.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- University degree. Preferably majoring in Business Administration or Economics.
- Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong systems literacy and numerical reasoning.
- Outstanding selling/influencing skills.
- Excellent negotiating skills.
- Strong knowledge of all products and routes.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years demonstrated experience in sales and marketing related disciplines
- Ability to think and act strategically
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a complex, highly competitive and fast moving business environment.
- Creative, entrepreneurial
- Effective time management skills
- Outstanding commercial awareness/business acumen.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the Travel industry and corporate business.
