Job Description:
Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Privacy and Data Protection (PDP) Specialist to join our team, focusing on the Middle East & Africa regions. The team is a cross-regional Privacy and Data Protection Governance Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with PDP regulations and implementing PDP policies and procedures. This role requires a thorough understanding of regional PDP laws, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. You will be reporting to the Privacy and Data Protection Global Lead in Netherlands and the RHQ’s PDP Manager locally.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance and Regulation:
Ensure compliance with all relevant PDP regulations and laws in the Middle East & Africa regions.
Monitor changes in PDP laws and regulations and update company policies accordingly.
Policy Development and Implementation:
Develop, implement, and maintain PDP policies and procedures.
Conduct regular reviews and updates of PDP policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
Risk Management:
Identify, assess, and manage PDP risks.
Conduct regular privacy impact assessments (PIAs), data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) , vendor due diligence and internal audits.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Training and Awareness:
Design and deliver PDP training programs for employees.
Promote PDP awareness and best practices across the organization.
Incident Management:
Assist with the response to PDP incidents, including data breaches as per internal Incident Management Procedures.
Conduct investigations, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
Support with reporting PDP incidents to relevant authorities as required and support responding to the affected individuals as per internal Incident Management Procedures..
Collaboration:
Work closely with Legal, IT/ISMS, Marketing and other departments to ensure PDP is integrated into all business processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in law.
Professional certification in data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) is highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or a related field.
Experience working in the Middle East & Africa regions is highly preferred.
Slight travel may be involved for business within ME & Africa region
