Ayesa is seeking a Principal Engineer with expertise in coastal engineering to join our team in Bahrain. This role focuses on addressing the challenges of coastal erosion, flooding, and sea-level rise while developing sustainable solutions for marine infrastructure such as ports, harbors, breakwaters, and sea defenses. The Principal Engineer will collaborate closely with environmental scientists, hydrologists, and civil engineers to deliver projects that balance human needs with environmental sustainability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Growth:
  • Work alongside the Country Manager to strategically expand coastal engineering disciplines in Bahrain and explore new opportunities.
  • Provide significant input into the regional growth of the marine team, identifying key market sectors and areas for development.
  • Assist in growing Ayesa’s marine capability across the region by establishing and expanding the presence in other offices.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and grow the marine engineering team in Bahrain, taking full operational responsibility for performance, project delivery, and business outcomes.
  • Where feasible, manage project-based resources in countries outside Bahrain, ensuring alignment with regional goals and specific project needs.
  • Business Development:
  • Lead marine business development efforts regionally, serving as the primary point of contact for marine works in several strategic areas.
  • Build strong client relationships and expand Ayesa’s marine portfolio by identifying new business opportunities and winning key projects.
  • Regional Marine Operations:
  • Assist the Country Manager in establishing and growing the regional marine presence, focusing on expanding Ayesa’s footprint in the Middle East.
  • Oversee the management and successful delivery of all marine projects in compliance with Ayesa’s Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring quality, safety, and sustainability.

This is a key leadership role for a seasoned coastal engineer, offering the opportunity to shape Ayesa's marine engineering growth in Bahrain and the wider region.


Experience Criteria

  • 8-12 years industry experience.
  • Experience of working in the GCC – particularly in UAE, KSA and Bahrain;
  • Broad experience in marine structural design, coastal processes design, numerical modelling studies and an understanding of environmental engineering;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Strong understanding of coastal processes, hydrodynamics, and oceanography.
  • Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Delft3D, Mike21, SWAN) for coastal and marine design.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable engineering practices.
  • Experience in project management, including design, construction, and maintenance of marine infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders.
