SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a dedicated Academic Study Skills Officer to support undergraduate students studying Law and Business Administration. The successful candidate will work both in small groups and one-on-one settings to help students develop their writing and study skills, ensuring they achieve their academic goals
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide tailored academic support to students in Law and Business Administration modules.
- Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions to address individual student needs.
- Facilitate small group workshops focused on writing and study skills.
- Assist students in developing effective study strategies, time management, and organizational skills.
- Guide students in understanding and applying academic writing conventions, including citation and referencing.
- Help students improve their critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with faculty and other academic support staff to identify students in need of additional support.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Statutory requirements: Eligibility to live and work in Bahrain
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree obtained in UK in business and/or any humanities subject (preferably in Law or Business Administration)
- Master’s preferred
- Certified IT skills
Experience and knowledge:
- Strong understanding of academic writing and study skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student groups
- Previous experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably in a higher education setting
