Shift Charge Engineer

Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the Operation Manager the Shift Charge Engineer will be responsible for leading an Operations Shift Team to ensure the plant meets the required availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within strict environmental limits. This will include responsibility for making accurate and timely decisions on matters affecting plant processes and performance and consulting with the Plant Operations Manager when necessary. The role will require a detailed understanding and practical experience of the technologies associated to operating a modern Gas Turbine plant, Desalination plant and a wide range of auxiliary equipment. This role requires working on rotational shifts and involves working during nights and public holidays. Key Accountabilities: • Safe and efficient delivery of high levels of commercial availability within environment limits • Maintaining high standards of management and leadership • Ensure that efficiency and availability targets are effectively communicated and achieved. • Perform the roles of Safety Controller and Safety Coordinator under HPC Safety Rules system • Manage technical and safety incidents at site in accordance with site procedures • Effective liaison with customer and system operator over plant operational issues • Make decisions, or assist others to make decisions, to resolve plant operational problems with immediate, medium and long term consequences • Lead and motivate the team by setting appropriate people and plant related performance measures • Deliver outcomes, in all areas of work, consistent with the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies • Ensure Company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures are implemented and carried out. • Participate in internal / external Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental audits and monitor relevant findings • Ensure all procedures, documentation Technical: • Understanding of modern CCGT plant and desalination process operating practices • Good foundation and practical knowledge of power plant operations, preferably including electrical systems • Power plant engineering concepts • Strong understanding of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management systems, safety rules (to safety controller level) and associated legislation • Working knowledge of commercial contracts and agreements (PWPA,OMA,GSA etc)• Exposure of Budget and cost control • Good command of the English language • Computer literacy • Possesses the ability to liaise with external organisations and internal stakeholders • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills Behavioural: • Ability to build and work with multi cultural and multi-disciplinary staff • Motivation and leadership of team and individual team members • Seek, organise and exchange information for decision making and problem solving • Ability to create a climate of open communication on personal and professional issues • Ability to work autonomously, prioritising tasks and activities in line with business objectives • Quality and environmental awareness and managing according to quality standards and procedures • Innovation, vision, creativity, taking initiative, problem solving and decision making • A pro-active approach to planning and decision making • Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders Leading and managing people • Budget reporting • Power Plant Operations • Commercial awareness and PPA knowledge • An accredited Engineering degree • Demonstrated competence at engineering level with adequate education and training supported About The Company Established in 2003, Clarendon Parker Bahrain is an International Recruitment Specialist Consultancy based in Bahrain’s Seef Business District.
