About the Position: Manama, the modern capital of the Arabian Gulf island. is the capital and largest city of Bahrain. Long an important trading center in the Persian Gulf, Manama is home to a very diverse population Federal employees in Bahrain may be entitled to receive a 20% Post Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary.
Manage files, records, create reports and correspondence for the school administrators/staff.
Retrieve data such as various statistical reports for the work unit.
Prepare correspondence in final form such as; forms, voice recordings and reports for the office.
Maintain office automation equipment and software such as; word processing, databases, and spreadsheets for the office and/or administrative staff.
Establish rules and procedures in support of school administrator and/ or administration staff.
Maintain clerical duties to relive the Principal/Assistant Principal.
Maintain time and attendance records for the students and staff.
Prepare travel arrangements and maintain office calendar(s) for the school administrators and/or staff.
Receive visitors to direct them in the proper direction in support of the school staff.
Respond to questions and inquiries via phone, email, in person etc. for the administrators.
Communicate with students, staff, and parents on various matters in support of school administrators and/or office staff.
Order and replenish supplies for the office and/or school staff. Clerical

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience is defined as: use of personal computer to create newsletters, reports or handbooks; maintain personnel files; and manage supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-04. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community

Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are not considered Ordinarily Resident under the applicable Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). An ordinarily resident is anyone who has lived in the host country longer than the allowed number of days without being a member of the forces assigned, civilian component or a family member of either the aforementioned or who has obtained a work permit for any duration. Ordinarily Resident restrictions apply and vary depending on the host nation. Pay retention may be offered to successful applicants for positions at overseas locations. For this provision to apply to employees already overseas, the selected individual would have to require a permanent change of station move and would have to be selected as a result of a recruitment effort that had been extended outside of the overseas command involved. Applicants who have family members with special medical needs should ensure that prior to accepting a position overseas their family members' medical needs can be met. Access to care in a military treatment facility may not be available to civilian employees except on a space available basis. Consequently, host nation medical facilities may be the only care available. The availability and level of care at host nation medical facilities will vary by location. Status candidates subject to the 5 year overseas rotation, who are currently overseas, must have enough time to meet the initial tour stated in the job announcement. Waivers may not be granted to meet the 5 year limitation requirement. Status applicants in their fourth year of an overseas assignment cannot be selected unless a waiver of the 5 year overseas service limitation requirement is approved. Selectees initially recruited from the United States may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. (Subject to approval).
