Job Description

Engineering Supervisor


The Engineering Supervisor oversees various aspects of maintenance and operations within the engineering office and workshop, and reporting to the Duty Engineer. Responsibilities include attending briefings, planning and supervising activities, maintaining records, assigning work orders, and participating in meetings and training sessions. Coordinates with stores to order necessary parts, provide technical assistance to technicians, and handle emergency repairs efficiently. Additionally, inspect contracted work, ensure safety protocols, and assist in requisitioning maintenance items. The supervisor responds to maintenance requests, troubleshoots equipment issues, and assists during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Administrative Tasks: Attend regular morning briefing with Duty Engineer/Dir of Engineer, along with all other employees in the Engineering Office/Workshop. Maintain records, files, and prepare reports. Assign and distribute work orders and work requests. Attend and participate in meetings regarding work to be done and training classes. Order and pick up parts for jobs to keep technicians on the job. Cooperate with the store to determine which parts should be ordered for stock. Check all logbooks to ensure that all maintenance requests are logged and materials used are recorded. Report to the Duty Engineer of any major issues as far as daily operations are concerned.
  • Maintenance Planning and Supervision: Plan, assign, inspect, and supervise maintenance, repair, and construction activities. Inspect contracted work as needed. Assist in the preliminary requisition of items required for resort maintenance and forward them to the Duty Engineer for counterchecking and final approval and signature. Attend any works, preventive maintenance, faults, and troubles of equipment under his jurisdiction. Attend any breakdowns of all major equipment in the resort like generators, STP, and Desalination plants. Maintain cleanliness around the surroundings of all engineering workshops and where the job has been done.
  • Technical Support and Emergency Response: Provide technical assistance to technicians when requested and perform related work as required. Perform emergency repairs, maintain tools, order supplies, and make routine adjustments to maximize operational efficiency. Attend to maintenance requests, maintenance calls, breakdowns, faults, and emergency jobs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and all major equipment. Standby on call for all emergency jobs after midnight as per instructions from the Duty Engineer. Help and assist engineering crews in times of emergency or in the case of fire or natural disaster.
  • Safety and Training: Attend the monthly fire hydrant exercise conducted by the Dir of Engineer/Chief Security. Always think of safety when performing your duties.

Qualifications
  • Education: Relevant certification in engineering, facilities management.
  • Experience: Experience as an engineering supervisor or in maintenance, preferably in a resort or hospitality setting, is required. Strong technical skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and equipment maintenance are essential, along with familiarity with building codes and regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for interacting with staff, management, and external contractors. Strong organizational skills are important for managing work orders, scheduling maintenance tasks, and keeping records.
  • Safety Awareness: The ability to quickly identify and resolve maintenance issues and emergencies is essential for this role. Additionally, knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for staff and guests is critical.
